    One of Our Best Family Trips Ever!

DAY 1: Bogotá arrival
Your Colombia and Galápagos family tour begins! Upon arrival in Bogotá, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in the city’s historic centre. The rest of the day is free to explore the Colombian capital at your own pace.

DAY 2: Bogotá Ciclovía bike tour
Explore Bogotá by bicycle, beginning in the historic La Candelaria neighbourhood and continuing through Plaza Bolívar, the English neighbourhood, and Teusaquillo. Along the way, discover the city’s colorful street art, visit a coffee roastery, and sample fresh fruit at a local produce market.
If you’re here on a Sunday, experience the Bogotá Ciclovía, when more than 75 miles (120 km) of city roads are closed to cars. The route also includes a visit to the lively handicraft market in Usaquén.

DAY 3: San Luis Reserve
Fly from Bogotá to Yopal, where you’ll transfer to the San Luis Natural Reserve. Your wildlife safari begins along the way, with opportunities to spot some of the species that inhabit the Llanos.
In the afternoon, explore the savannah and forest edges on foot or by jeep, looking for everything from smaller wildlife to larger mammals.

DAY 4: 4x4 jeep safari
Set out by 4×4 through the reserve, where you can look for capybaras, deer, spectacled caimans, tortoises, and an array of birdlife. After lunch at the farm’s main house, take some time to relax in a hammock and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
Later, continue your wildlife search during the golden hour, followed by a sunset over the plains. A nighttime drive back to the lodge offers another chance to spot nocturnal species such as maikongs, anteaters, and nightjars.

DAY 5: Medellín
Leave San Luis behind and fly from Yopal to Medellín. An English-speaking guide will accompany you to the airport, and another guide will meet you on arrival at José María Córdova International Airport before transferring you to your hotel.

DAY 6: Guatapé and El Peñol rock
Travel into the Eastern Highlands of Antioquia to climb El Peñol Rock, a 656-foot (200-metre) monolith reached by 740 steps. From the summit, enjoy panoramic views over the Guatapé reservoir and the colorful houses below.
Continue to Guatapé for a traditional Colombian lunch and a leisurely boat ride on the reservoir, with time to explore the town’s lively streets and distinctive architecture.

DAY 7: Medellín graffiti walk
Discover the street art of Comuna 13 on a guided walk led by local artists. The neighborhood’s colorful murals offer a window into its history, culture, and transformation, while your guide explains how graffiti became an important form of community expression.
Later, your Colombia and Galápagos family tour continues as you fly from Medellín to Quito, where you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to Ilatoa Lodge.

DAY 8: Quito, the historic centre and the equator line
Explore Quito’s historic centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, visiting El Panecillo, the Basílica del Voto Nacional, San Francisco Church, and the Old Town’s historic streets and plazas.
After lunch, drive to the Intiñan Equator Museum near the Middle of the World Monument to learn more about the equator and its significance. Finish the day at the Pululahua Crater, where the landscape provides a striking contrast to the city.

DAY 9: Cotopaxi hiking
Travel to Cotopaxi National Park, around two hours from Quito, and begin with a walk around Limpiopungo Lagoon. Surrounded by Cotopaxi and Rumiñahui volcanoes, the lagoon offers views of the páramo landscape and its distinctive flora and fauna.
Continue to the Jorge Rivas refuge at 15,748 feet (4,800 metres), with the high altitude making this a more demanding hike.

DAY 10: San Cristóbal and Puerto Baquerizo Moreno
Fly from Quito to San Cristóbal, marking the start of the Galápagos portion of your adventure. Upon arrival, a driver will meet you at the airport for the short transfer to your hotel in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

DAY 11: Kicker Rock snorkeling
Set out by boat for Kicker Rock, also known as León Dormido, a dramatic volcanic formation rising 459 feet (140 metres) above the sea. Snorkel through the channel between its towering walls, looking for sharks, rays, and other marine life.
After exploring the waters around Kicker Rock, return to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and your hotel.

DAY 12: San Cristóbal highlands
Head into the San Cristóbal highlands to explore El Junco, the only freshwater lagoon in the Galápagos. Walk around the lagoon before continuing to La Galapaguera, where native vegetation and giant tortoises can be found.
Finish at Puerto Chino, a beautiful white-sand beach where you can relax, explore the shoreline, or snorkel in the surrounding waters.

DAY 13: Speedboat to Santa Cruz
Transfer to the San Cristóbal passenger pier for the two-hour speedboat journey to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. The crossing can be choppy, so travelers prone to motion sickness may want to take precautions.
Upon arrival, transfer from the pier to your hotel. Water taxis are not included.

DAY 14: Santa Fe snorkeling or Pinzón fishing day
Today’s excursion takes you to either Santa Fe or Pinzón, with the destination determined by Galápagos National Park regulations on the day of the tour.
At Santa Fe, snorkel in a crystal-clear bay before making a wet landing at either Playa Escondida or Garrapatero Beach on Santa Cruz. If Pinzón is selected, explore La Fe’s mangroves and rocky shores, where marine iguanas, sea lions, sea turtles, small sharks, and colorful fish can be found. The excursion may also include a local fishing experience.

DAY 15: Speedboat to Isabela

Meet your guide or driver at the end of the pier for the short transfer to your hotel. Water taxis to and from the pier are not included.

DAY 16: Kayaking at Puerto Villamil
Explore Puerto Villamil’s bay by kayak, paddling along Isabela’s coastline with your guide. Keep an eye out for tropical fish, sharks, sea turtles, Galápagos penguins, and blue-footed boobies as you explore the surrounding waters.

DAY 17: Free day on Isabela
Enjoy a free day to explore Isabela at your own pace. Rent a bicycle to reach Concha Perla Lagoon, where you can snorkel among sea lions, penguins, and tropical fish, or continue to the Wall of Tears to learn about the island’s more recent history.
You can also explore the wetlands outside Puerto Villamil, where lagoons, swamps, and mangroves provide habitat for species including common stilts, whimbrels, white-cheeked pintails, and gallinules.

DAY 18: Los Túneles snorkeling
Set out for Los Túneles, where ancient lava flows have created a maze of arches and underwater tunnels surrounded by calm, clear water. Depending on the timing of your excursion, a snack or boxed lunch will be provided before returning to Puerto Villamil.

DAY 19: Departure

Essential items to bring include comfortable and lightweight clothing (with a jacket as a precaution), water, sunblock, sunglasses, and your passport.
To enter Ecuador and Colombia, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended departure from the country.
Prices are subject to seasonal surcharges during Christmas, New Year’s, and Holy Week (Semana Santa).
For children under the age of 12, there is a 10% discount.

Maximize your time in the Galápagos by choosing early arrival and late departure flights. Late arrivals or early departures may cause you to miss some of the included tours.
Bring smaller baggage/bags since public transportation on the Galápagos Islands is quite limited.
There are no guides on the public speedboat transportation between islands.
It is suggested to have current travel insurance, including personal medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
Take the necessary precautions to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat street food, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
Tap water in the Galápagos Islands might contain bacteria and should not be consumed, not even for brushing your teeth. Bottled or purified water is always recommended.

When flying to the Galápagos from Quito or Guayaquil, we recommend arriving in the city at least 24 hours before your flight to avoid inconveniences.
