Wonderful private, accessible tour of Peru and the Galapagos
I am a travel agent and used Rebecca Adventures for my clients for a private tour of Peru and the Galapagos. They wanted specifically to focus on trekking and I couldn't find any options that encompassed everything they wanted all in one place. Other private tour companies were not based in Latin America and were way over budget. I am so glad I came across this company. They have a 24 hour support chat with someone in the area (not a call center) and they replied within a few minutes each time with various questions from my clients. An amazing 20 days in a once in lifetime family South American adventure
We were looking for an agency to help us plan and organise our family's South American adventure and stumbled upon Rebecca Adventure Travel online. When we emailed their online contact information service, Andres responded within 24 hours. He proceed to put together a comprehensive travel itinerary covering Peru and Ecuador over 20 days. The tour was extremely enjoyable for our family of 2 adults and 3 primary aged children, and we managed to cover many key tourist destinations. In Peru we visited Cusco, Macchu Picchu, the Sacred Valley, took the train from Cusco to Puno and Lima. In Ecuador we visited Quito, Mindo Valley, Lake Cotacahi, Hacienda Pinsaqui, Condor Park, the Otavalo Market and finished off our adventure with a 5 day cruise in the Galapogos. Our travel arrangements were all well made with helpful and informative guides meeting us on arrival at every destination, clean hotels and transportation. Meals were excellent wherever we stopped from lunch / dinner. All of the tickets for entry to the various destinations were pre arranged and timed to make our travel as efficient as possible with minimal waiting time. There were some exciting activities along the way including horse riding in the Sacred Valley and Hacienda Pinsaqui, dancing to Inca music on the train to Puno and zipline park in the Mindo Valley. We would highly recommend the MV Galapagos Legend as an ideal cruise ship for families visiting the Galapagos. Value for money was fair for what we required. We cross checked their prices against 2 other service providers and found Rebecca Adventure Travel to be competitive and relatively good value for money compared to some "luxury" international travel companies offering similar services from London / Singapore. We would highly recommend Rebecca Travel as a service provider in Ecuador and Peru.

  • DAY 1: Arrival to Tambopata National Reserve

    Upon arrival from Lima or Cusco, you will be welcomed at the airport, and taken to our Puerto Maldonado headquarters in just 10 minutes. After packing only your necessary gear for the coming days, we will drive 20 kilometers to the Tambopata River Port. From here, you will go by boat to the lodge. During the boat transfer, you will pass the Community of Infierno and the Tambopata National Reserve’s checkpoint. You will have the option of hiking out at night.

  • DAY 2: Chuncho Clay Lick – Tambopata Research Center

    The boat transfer to the Tambopata Research Center will take about four and a half hours. After the first hour and a half, as we cross the confluence with the Malinowski River, we will leave the final traces of the human population behind. After two hours from Refugio Amazonas, we will stop at the Chuncho clay lick. Here, you will have the chance to see dozens of large macaws feeding on the special sodium-rich clays of the riverbank. After this, we will continue with the ride. Upon arrival, the lodge manager will welcome you and brief you with important navigation and security tips. Afterwards, you will hike to the Overlook Trail, and enjoy the rich nature of the rainforest.

  • DAY 3: Macaw Clay Lick – Forest Hike – Pond Platform – Nightwalk

    Early in the morning, you will go to the Macaw Clay lick. At dawn, it is possible to see dozens of macaws and hundreds of parrots feeding themselves on the clay lick at the riverbank. After breakfast, you will walk down the Floodplain Trail. During this five-kilometer trail, and with some luck, you will find Squirrels, Brown Capuchin Monkeys, and Spider Monkeys, as well as Peccaries. After lunch, you will go to the Pond Platform. This platform in the middle of the river is a great place to spot ducks, sunbitterns, hoatzins, woodpeckers, oropendolas, flycatchers, and parakeets. After dinner, you will go out for a hike to find nocturnal animals, which are most active in the dark.

  • DAY 4: Macaw Clay Lick -Terra Firme Trail – Palm Swamp Trail

    Early in the morning, you will go to the Macaw Clay lick. At dawn, it is possible to see dozens of macaws and hundreds of parrots feeding themselves on the clay lick at the riverbank. After breakfast, you will walk the Terra Firme Trail. The landscapes you will see on this trail are very different from other parts of the rainforest. During the trail, you can look for Saddleback tamarins and rare tapir tracks. After lunch, you will do the Palm Swamp Trail. Here, you will learn more about the important plants and food sources available in this region of the rainforest.

  • DAY 5: Transfer Out

    Today, you will retrace your journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our headquarters, and finally, the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this transfer may require dawn departures. At the Puerto Maldonado Airport, your Tambopata Amazon Peru adventure will officially end.
