Itinerary

  • DAY 1 COTOPAXI BIKING – VOLCANO AVENUE VIEW
    Rebecca Adventure Travel Biking to the Cotopaxi Volcano

    You will start your first day of the Andes Mountain package tour at the meeting point in Quito, very early in the morning, at 07:00 AM. The drive to the Cotopaxi National Park will take around 1.5 hours. Once you arrive at the National Park, you can hike up the Cotopaxi Volcano to the refuge at 4,864 meters above sea level. After a safety briefing, you will commence your downhill descent on mountain bikes. There are some sections of the mountain biking route that are recommended for experienced riders. The journey will finish at a beautiful lagoon at the base of the Cotopaxi Volcano. After that, you will head to Hacienda Papagayo where you will stay over the night.

  • DAY 2 QUILOTOA LAGOON
    Rebecca Adventure Travel Quilotoa Lagoon

    This day will be filled with culture. You will begin with a visit to a local indigenous market, Saquisili (Thursdays) or Pujili (Sundays). Afterwards, you will travel to the Quilotoa Lagoon, which is an astonishing emerald colored lagoon inside a large volcano crater (3,800m altitude). Before reaching the crater, you will pass through the ancient canyon of Zumbahua, where you can see many indigenous towns and farmlands. When you arrive to the crater, you will be able to appreciate the vast and gorgeous landscape. You will be invited to visit a local indigenous home where you will have the special opportunity to interact with the inhabitants and learn about their culture. After lunch, it is time to explore the Quilotoa Lagoon as you will hike down to the lagoon’s shore. At the end of the day, you will travel back to Quito.

Additional information

  • This tour leaves on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
  • Important things to bring: warm, windproof, and waterproof clothing, appropriate shoes or boots, water, sunblock, sunglasses, pocket money, and passport.
  • Keep in mind that the climate at 4000 meters can change suddenly from sunny to cold with stormy winds and wet snow.
