DAY 1 WELCOME TO ECUADOR – TRANSFER TO HOTEL
Today your 11-day Luxury Nature Ecuador adventure begins. You will arrive at Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito (Certified as a global 5-star Regional Airport by SKYTRAX). You will be welcomed by your English-speaking driver and taken to La Palma Polo Club where you will stay for the night. If you arrive before 6:00 p.m. a delicious dinner can be prepared for you in the comfort of the hotel!

DAY 2 TO THE AMAZON
On the second day of your luxury trip, you will go off the grid, and reconnect back with nature. You will go to the amazing Yasuni National Park, continental Ecuador’s largest protected natural area, and a host of impressive biodiversity in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. You will be picked up from your hotel, and driven back to the airport. After a 30-minute flight to “El Coca”, you will be taken, by private transportation, to the city’s main dock at the Napo River. The next two hours will be on a motorized canoe heading down the river. Later in the afternoon, you will take the Matapalo Trail. This trail was given the Spanish name of the famous Strangler, one of many remarkable trees that you can find on this short walk. Mahogany trees over 400 years old can be seen and your guides will share their knowledge of the flora and fauna.

DAY 3 EXPLORING THE RAINFOREST
Your day starts at 6:00 AM with a wake-up call, so you can enjoy a calm and wonderful breakfast. Around 7:00 AM, you will go to the observation tower & Tucaneta Trail. After a 20-minute walk, the observation tower comes into sight. This amazing construction will allow you to climb 120 ft (36,5 m approx), above the forest. Your naturalist and native guides will help you spot the colorful birds of the Amazon, maybe even certain primates. Later that afternoon, you will go on the Charapa Trail. It is a great loop where different mammals, monkeys, and birds can be seen coming closer to the lagoon at this time, looking for food. You will be back at the lodge after this fascinating experience, and enjoy your dinner.
During your free time in between activities, you can use our kayaks, swim in the lagoon, have a massage, or just relax in your room and have a nap!

DAY 4 PARROT CLAY LICK & TREKKING
After a delightful breakfast, you will visit the Parrot Clay Lick and Mandi Wasi. You will make your way back to the Napo River, and take a motorized canoe ride to the clay licks, one of the most fascinating displays of the wild world. Hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather here to eat the mineral-rich soil, an important part of their diet. After this, you will be taken to your authentic cultural experience where an Amazonian Kichua woman will share the life of the Kichwa in the Amazon. In the afternoon, you will go on The Coto Trail. This is a fantastic walk that takes off from the lodge to the edge of the Garzacocha Lagoon. Groups of black-mantled tamarin monkeys can be spotted on this walk, and some of our groups have even seen tapirs too.

DAY 5 BACK TO THE ANDES
As stated in your briefing the night before, you will have an early wake-up call, breakfast, and departure from the lodge. The motorized canoe ride will head upstream back to Coca, where our representatives will take you to the airport. Upon your arrival at Quito’s Airport, you will be picked up by your driver, and taken, by private transportation, to the dazzling Hacienda of San Agustín de Callo. Built on the site of an Inca palace, this hacienda is one of the two most important archaeological Inca sites in Ecuador. The Hacienda has remained in the family to this day and is currently owned by the General’s granddaughter, Mignon Plaza, whose father, the distinguished congressman, Jose María Plaza Lasso, played a pivotal role in Ecuador’s politics throughout his life.

DAY 6 IN THE HACIENDA – COTOPAXI
Wake up at the hacienda with your adventurous spirit ready to go. Today you will explore Cotopaxi National Park and the majestic volcano, one of the world’s highest active volcanoes.
Optional: You can enjoy other activities at your disposal at the hacienda for an additional cost. For example, horseback riding old Incan paths, through pine forests, and the paramo of the Cotopaxi volcano.- Activity:Exploring. Hiking. Horseback Riding. Relaxing.

DAY 7 QUILOTOA LAGOON
Today, you’ll embark on a remarkable journey to Ecuador’s Quilotoa Lagoon, one of South America’s most stunning wonders. Begin at the breathtaking Cañón del Río Toachi, a picturesque canyon en route to Quilotoa. Traverse indigenous villages, each adding cultural richness to your adventure. Upon reaching Laguna Quilotoa, engage in a captivating two-hour hike down and back up, with the option to hire mules for added ease. Continue south to the Chimborazo Province, concluding your day at the luxurious Hosteria Andaluza for a comfortable retreat.

DAY 8 CHIMBORAZO VOLCANO – CUENCA
After breakfast, you will be picked up in the morning to take advantage of the weather to visit the snowy Chimborazo Volcano. You will walk along the path to reach the second refuge of the Chimborazo Volcano, located at 5,000 meters above sea level. It can take up to an hour of walking to reach the refuge. At the second refuge, you can enjoy warm beverages and then continue to enjoy the beauty of this incredible landscape. Afterward, you will continue to the southern area of Ecuador to the city of Cuenca. The drive is about 4 hours, but it will pass by quickly with the amazing landscapes that change before your eyes. You will stay at the Santa Lucia Hotel in Cuenca for the evening.

Day 10 CAJAS NATIONAL PARK – LA DANESA
In the morning, you will be picked up by your driver and transported to the enchanting Cajas National Park, a highlight of this luxurious Ecuadorian journey. The tour commences with an effortless 1-hour walk in the lower cloud forest, known for its abundant birdlife. Subsequently, a moderate 3-hour hike unfolds around a glacier lake, followed by a captivating exploration through tundra vegetation and a Polylepis forest, reminiscent of scenes from Lord of the Rings.

At the scheduled time, a transfer will be arranged to take you to Guayaquil International Airport, from where you will embark on your flight to the next destination.

- Bring a rain poncho, and take it with you for the activities in the Amazon because the weather could change suddenly in the rainforest and you might get wet.
- Important things to bring: warm and waterproof clothing, gloves, water, energy snacks, sunblock, sunglasses, and your passport.
- Keep in mind that the weather at 13,000 ft (4,000 m) can change suddenly from sunny to cold with stormy winds and wet snow.
- Since you will ride on steep mountain trails where oxygen is limited, it is our safety recommendation that the rider weighs 220 lbs (100 kg) or less.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precautions to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat street food, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
- Rebecca Adventure Travel and the respective cruise operator reserve the right to change the itinerary without prior notice due to weather conditions, availability, National Park regulations or notifications, and unforeseeable circumstances.
- If you would like to enter the Cotopaxi National Park (for example, to visit Limpiopungo or the Cotopaxi Refugio, or to stop underway to take pictures), you are required to rent the services of a local guide. The cost is USD 40.
