DAY 1 QUITO CITY TOUR OR PULULAHUA CRATER AND MIDDLE OF THE WORLD
Today, your Andes & Amazon tour begins! Your guide will pick you up upon arrival at the airport or your hotel in Quito. In the afternoon, you’ll explore either Quito’s Historic Center or the Pululahua Crater and Middle of the World on a private tour. At the end of the day, your guide will take you to a charming hacienda near Cotopaxi, where you can relax.
Note: Activity choice depends on your arrival time. Later morning arrivals will only have time for the Historic Center visit.

DAY 2 COTOPAXI NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, you will visit the Cotopaxi National Park on a private tour where you can choose between the standard option of hiking and biking or another option that involves horseback riding. The Cotopaxi is an active volcano with a height of 5.897 meters, activities will start at around a height of 3.800 meters. In this National Park, you can spot many foxes, wild horses, and sometimes even Andean Condors. The drop-off will be at your hotel in Baños at the end of the day.

DAY 3 BAÑOS – TENA
Baños de Agua Santa, commonly referred to as simply Baños is an Ecuadorian city in the Tungurahua province. It is known as the “Gateway” to the Amazon region, as it is the last big city still located in the mountains before reaching the jungle. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed in this sub-tropical climate. In the morning you will visit the famous “Swing to the End of the World” and the “Pailon del Diablo” waterfall. Later, you will be transferred to the Eco-lodge in Tena where you will be served a delicious dinner. Afterward, you can enjoy a special welcome drink and a relaxing chat with the lodge administrator to coordinate and discuss the activities for the next few days.

DAY 4 Kichwa Community
7:00 – 8:30 Breakfast
9:00 or 9:30 Departure for a long walk
After breakfast, you go on a walk through the primary and secondary forests. This activity lasts about 21⁄2 to 3 hours.

14:30 Visit to the community
In the afternoon it is time to enjoy a cultural activity. An Amazonian Kichwa community will receive us and we will learn about their way of life and the interaction they have with the forest. In this meeting, that part of the Amazon is not found on the maps. the Amazonian peoples in their daily lives. Part of our visit to the community is to share the famous “chicha”, a fermented cassava drink that has become part of their parties and daily consumption. We will participate in the preparation of this drink and try some of the traditional dishes. We will end the visit with a traditional dance performed by the children of the community and we will also have time to buy some handicrafts made by the natives of the area. This small business is very helpful to support the daily life of the indigenous peoples of the area.

DAY 5 Parrot Clay Licking and Back to Quito
5:45 – 6:00 Departure to Saladero (according to the weather) *
Early in the morning, we take a 15-minute canoe ride upstream to visit the Parrot Saladero and appreciate a unique place where parrots and parakeets gather in order to obtain the minerals that will help them digest the fruits or seeds that have consumed Hundreds of parrots and parakeets will approach the tree- tops and then go down to the clay wall to eat this mineral-rich land. It is essential to have some binoculars to enjoy this magnificent natural act.

9:00 Departure and motorized canoe ride for 20 minutes to the Arajuno bridge. End of the tour.Back to Quito

- If you like to enjoy watching Animals please get some binoculars (10×40 are much better).
- Important things to bring: warm and waterproof clothing, gloves, water, energy snacks, sunblock, sunglasses, and your passport.
- Keep in mind that the weather at 13,000 ft (4,000 m) can change suddenly from sunny to cold with stormy winds and wet snow.
- Since you will ride on steep mountain trails where oxygen is limited, it is our safety recommendation that the rider weighs 220 lbs (100 kg) or less.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precautions to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat street food, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
- Rebecca Adventure Travel and the respective cruise operator reserve the right to change the itinerary without prior notice due to weather conditions, availability, National Park regulations or notifications, and unforeseeable circumstances.
- If you would like to enter the Cotopaxi National Park (for example, to visit Limpiopungo or the Cotopaxi Refugio, or to stop underway to take pictures), you are required to rent the services of a local guide. The cost is USD 40.
