Itinerary

ITINERARY A (8 DAYS / 7NIGHTS)
  • DAY 1 BALTRA AIRPORT - LAS BACHAS (SANTA CRUZ)
    Rebecca Adventure Travel BACHAS

AM: On arrival in the Galapagos, you’ll be met in the arrivals hall by your naturalist guide and transferred to your ship, M/Y Grand Daphne, which will be moored close to Baltra Island. Once on board, you’ll meet the crew, be assigned a cabin, and enjoy a delicious lunch with your fellow travelers. Try on the snorkeling gear to ensure it fits, before your first snorkeling session. Wetsuits can also be rented at an additional cost.

PM: Sail from Baltra to Las Bachas beach, on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island, which is a nesting site for the Pacific green turtle. You may also see some marine iguanas. The sand here, made of decomposed coral, is particularly white and soft. The nearby rocks make for an excellent snorkeling spot, where you might see some of the many Sally Lightfoot crabs on the island. A saltwater lagoon just near the beach is home to flamingos, whimbrel, and great blue herons.

    • ActivityActivity:Walking. Sightseeing. Snorkeling.

Marvel at nesting pelicans and encounter marine iguanas, sea lions, and pintail ducks. Discover an opuntia cactus forest, hinting at the presence of land iguanas and Galapagos hawks.

PM: Go on an afternoon adventure to Albemarle, where mangroves envelop the bay and provide sanctuary for sea turtles, penguins, and flightless cormorants. • DAY 3 TAGUS COVE - URBINA BAY (ISABELA)
    Rebecca Adventure Travel Tagus-Cove

AM: Tagus Cove, located in the upper west corner of Isabela, was named after an English warship that passed Galapagos in 1800. Many sailors and pirates made this a popular spot. Volcanic rock even has their names and those of their ships inscribed. Many of the island’s characteristics result from volcanic activity, including large volcanic rocks and small balls of petrified rainfall. The trail leads to Darwin Lake via a tuff cone.

PM: Urbina Bay is located a little further south than Tagus Cove. This is a fascinating site because of the volcanic and tectonic activity that caused the island’s uplift. The corals and reefs below the surface rose with it. They can still be seen, but they are starting to decline due to the air exposure. You may see Galapagos giant tortoises and land iguanas near the coast.

    • ActivityActivity:Walking. Snorkeling. Panga ride.
    • mealMeal:Breakfast. Lunch. Dinner.
    • AccommodationsAccommodation:Double or single cabins.

Keep an eye out for turtles and sea lions swimming in the clear waters, and witness flightless cormorants drying their wings on the rocks.
