Visit The Galapagos Before the Post-Covid Travel Hype

Travel to Galapagos

Everyone needs a breath of fresh air after a difficult year. The travel industry has felt the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in a considerable way, and travelers do not feel certain enough to make bookings. Nevertheless, if you look at it from a different perspective, to travel to the Galapagos Islands now may be a master plan. This protected National Park is filled with incredible nature, and you can take advantage now of the very low rate of people visiting it.

But, the virus!

Yes, the virus has been here for a long time, but it cannot make people afraid to live, taking even more precautions than necessary. The situation is way more controlled now than it was some months ago. Vaccination is reaching a significant proportion of the population and activities are starting slowly to resume. Travel for sure will have a boost soon, so it is a good recommendation to book before the post-COVID travel hype starts. Look at the trends in the USA.

2022 begins with 62% of the population of the United Stated fully vaccinated, the number of new cases has fallen to the lowest since March 2020. For this reason, the USA celebrated its first mask-free holiday on May 31, 2021, in the sense that vaccinated people are not required to wear a mask in outdoor spaces.

On Friday, May 28 of 2021, over 1.9 million Americans flew for the weekend. This was the highest number of travelers since the pandemic began. It is also much higher than the 327,000 travelers that flew on the same weekend of the previous year.

As you can see in the graph above, the number of travelers currently is much closer to those of 2019 (pre-pandemic) than to those of 2020 (during the pandemic). The trend is clear, traveling is increasing in the US and will continue growing during 2022.

Similarly, the same is bound to happen in Europe and the rest of the world. Why? Because the increase in travel goes hand in hand with the progress of the vaccination programs. Vaccines are accessible to everyone in the US. Vaccines will eventually be accessible to everyone in Europe, or other countries, and then the demand for tourism will increase.

But what else happens with an increase in demand? That is right, an increase in price. Airfares and hotel rates are already increasing in the US, and it is likely they will continue to increase.

Then, what to do to be economically savvy in the context of a progressive increase of demand? If you are American, then travel internationally (not domestically) to places in which prices are still low (like Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands). If you are European, or from another country, then take advantage of the low prices and flexible rescheduling policies while they last and book early.

Ok, I want to travel. Where should I go?

After a harsh year, where most of us were required to stay at home, you probably want to connect with nature, stay away from crowds, and go somewhere with low rates of COVID or high rates of vaccination.

Then, the Galapagos Islands are the perfect destination!

The exceptional Galapagos Islands are set to be the first Latin American archipelago to achieve collective immunity from Covid-19, as 100% of its population over 18 years of age was inoculated towards the end of May 2021. Also, at the beginning of 2022, Ecuador stands out as one of the top 10 countries with the highest vaccination rate in the world.

In addition, within the framework of the agreement signed between the San Francisco de Quito University and the Ministry of Public Health, a scientific research program will be implemented on the entire process of mass immunization against COVID-19 in the Province of Galapagos. The vaccination program is being handled fast and professionally.

Also, the Islands have strict protocols and implement controlled tourism, therefore you will not encounter big crowds. If you want to have this paradise for yourself, now is the time to pack your bags! And do not forget your camera for all of the memorable pictures you will capture.

You can even charter entire boats or hotels for your group.

To The Galapagos it is!

The Galapagos Islands were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1978. They are the main touristic destination in Ecuador, and a site of special scientific interest due to its great diversity of flora, fauna, and geological resources.

You can enjoy a ton of interesting activities too: hiking or biking surrounded by awesome landscapes, snorkeling with sea lions, and even diving with sharks, or you can simply rest and relax on a splendid beach with the sound of the ocean.

Overall, The Galapagos is the best place to go to before the post-Covid travel hype begins as it has adventure, nature, amazing landscapes, social distancing, safety, and… Giant Tortoises. What are you waiting for?
