• DAY 2: Quito Historic Center, Middle of the World, and Pululahua

  

  After a delectable local breakfast, you and your family will hit the colonial streets of historic Quito. This guided tour will take you to colorful points of interest, like Panecillo Hill, the Basílica del Voto Nacional church, Quito’s main squares, and the 17th-century Basilica and Convent of San Francisco. You’ll also visit the Middle of the World Museum (situated right on the equator), and the Pululahua volcanic crater. It’s the perfect blend of culture and fun!

Upon arrival, you’ll settle into your rooms and can then enjoy some fresh-cooked local cuisine, followed by time to unwind by the pool. Later, a guide will lead you on an interactive hike to discover the wonders of the jungle.

• DAY 5: Papallacta Spa & Hot Springs Relaxation

  

  For the next leg of your Ecuador & Galapagos family adventure tour, you’ll depart the Amazon and return to the Andes. Upon arrival, you’ll settle in at a spa hotel in the rejuvenating Papallacta Volcanic Hot Springs. Here, you and the family can enjoy self-guided hikes, relax in the award-winning spa, and soothe your weary muscles in volcanic baths amidst spectacular views.

• DAY 6: Otavalo Cultural Experience

  

  Today’s experience takes you to the town of Otavalo, the handicrafts capital of Ecuador. Here, you and your family will snack at the original bizcocho (biscuit) factory and visit a nearby condor rescue center. Throughout the day, you’ll also be immersed in indigenous culture as you meet local families and market purveyors.

• DAY 7: Fly to San Cristóbal

  

  The final leg of your Ecuador & Galapagos family adventure tour has arrived! Bid farewell to Ilatoa as you and the family head to Quito’s airport for your flight to Santa Cruz Island, in the Galápagos. After a scenic flight, you’ll settle into your hotel and can then participate in family-friendly water activities like kayaking or paddleboarding (often accompanied by friendly sea lions). Lunch involves you and the clan participating in a fun ceviche cooking class to discover the joys of fresh Ecuadorian seafood.

• DAY 9: Boat Tour Around Kicker Rock

  

  Embark on a full-day boat/snorkeling tour around Kicker Rock, one of the most popular dive sites in the Galápagos. Here, you’ll glimpse exotic marine species like tropical fish, sea turtles, rays, and even hammerhead sharks (don’t worry; they are shy creatures). After a simple lunch onboard, you’ll cruise to a remote beach for some family time and relaxation.

• DAY 11: Snorkeling at Los Túneles

  

  Leave first thing in the morning on a boat tour to Los Túneles, a natural lava rock formation and one of the premier snorkeling sites in the Galápagos. Expect to swim alongside exotic species like green sea turtles, sea lions, and harmless reef sharks. You might even spot penguins and sea horses!

Later in the afternoon, you can enjoy self-guided activities, such as a visit to the Las Grietas natural swimming hole or the white-sand beach at Tortuga Bay.
