BookingThis Cotopaxi horseback riding tour is specially designed for you to experience riding in the Andes. The ranch where you will ride is about two hours south of Quito, just outside the Cotopaxi National Park. All riders are welcome, from beginners to experienced ones, and will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide. Starting at 9:00 a.m., you can choose to ride for 2 or 3.5 hours across stunning landscapes, where you might even see some wild horses! Self-guided trails and other outdoor activities are available. Enjoy the Andean countryside and savor a lunch of local Ecuadorian dishes.

HORSEBACK RIDING AROUND THE COTOPAXI VOLCANO
07:00 AM – Pick up at your selected hotel in Quito and begin driving to the ranch through the Avenue of the Volcanoes.
09:00 AM – After admiring the changing landscape of the Ecuadorian Andes, you will arrive at the Cotopaxi National Park and your horseback riding tour will start.
09:10 AM – 12:40 PM – Ride the beautiful moorlands and paramo around the Cotopaxi National Park (either 2 or 3,5 hours), and enjoy a beautiful landscape surrounding the majestic Cotopaxi Volcano. If you observe carefully, you can find a great diversity of animals like deer, alpacas, llamas, wild bulls, and wild horses.
13:00 – Local lunch at the ranch. You will enjoy a delicious meal with top-quality organic ingredients.
16:00 – Return to Quito.

- Prices for 2025 are subject to change.
- To enter Ecuador, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your intended departure from the country.
- Prices are subject to seasonal surcharges during Christmas, New Year’s, and Semana Santa.
- Important things to bring: warm and waterproof clothing, gloves, water, energy snacks, sunblock, sunglasses, and your passport.
- Keep in mind that the weather at 13,000 ft (4,000 m) can change suddenly from sunny to cold with stormy winds and wet snow.
- Since you will ride on steep mountain trails where oxygen is limited, it is our safety recommendation that the rider weighs 220 lbs (100 kg) or less.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precautions to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat street food, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
- Rebecca Adventure Travel reserves the right to change the itinerary without prior notice due to weather conditions, availability, National Park regulations or notifications, and unforeseeable circumstances.
- If you would like to enter the Cotopaxi National Park (for example, to visit Limpiopungo or the Cotopaxi Refugio, or to stop underway to take pictures), you are required to rent the services of a local guide. The cost is USD 40.
